Singapore’s economy grew impressively since our industrialization policies of the 1960s and 1970s. These were mainly fuelled by attracting foreign MNCs to Singapore so that we could immediately jump start the industrialization of Singapore and create good jobs for our people. As we gained success, the next wave of companies was the government linked companies that started by investing in strategic areas like communication, transportation, banking, and many more. Since the 2000s Singapore started focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship to create start-ups in Singapore that may become the future MNCs based in Singapore. How successful have we been and what can we do to create a sustainable future economy for Singapore. This will be the key areas of the talk.
